We check and differentiate the many parts of things

All the stuff that we sense within and around us
takes a myriad of forms from atoms to galaxies,
each part having many unique characteristics
which can be very subtle and always changing.
Think, for example, of the millions of colours or sounds
that we can distinguish with our eyes, ears or instruments.
We need to constantly sort out and classify these differences
and monitor changes, filter out what's useful or note,
and make further changes to benefit  ourselves or others.
